Baikunth Chaturdashi vrat katha (Baikunth Chaturdashi vrat katha)
According to the legend of Baikunth Chaturdashi, once Lord Vishnu resolved to offer a thousand golden lotus flowers in Varanasi to worship Lord Shiva, the Lord of Gods, on the Chaturdashi of Kartik month.
While doing this resolution and worship, Lord Shiva hid a flower to test the devotion of Lord Vishnu. When one flower fell short, Lord Vishnu thought that his eyes were also like lotus, because they are called ‘Kamal Nayan’.
In such a situation, Lord Vishnu decided to offer his eyes to Lord Shiva instead of flowers. As soon as he tried to take out his eyes, Lord Shiva appeared and stopped him. Pleased with this devotion and immense love of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva gave him Sudarshan Chakra. Lord Shiva gave him the boon that whoever observes a fast on this day and worships Lord Vishnu, will attain Vaikuntha Dham.
