Bahraich: 24 people missing after boat capsizes in Kaudiyala river, know why and how the accident happened

A boat capsized on Wednesday in the Kaudiyala river flowing in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. There were 28 people on board, out of which 24 are still missing. As soon as the information was received, NDRF and SDRF teams reached the spot and started searching for people.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the police and administration to immediately reach the accident site along with the disaster relief force.

Where and how did the accident happen?

According to reports, Bharathapur village of Bahraich district, located near the India-Nepal border, falls in the Katarniaghat wildlife range. People of this area travel by boat from Khairatiya village of Lakhimpur via Kaudiyala river. On the evening of Wednesday 29 October, some villagers were returning from Khairatiya village towards Bharathapur by boat, meanwhile around 6 o’clock the boat went out of control and capsized in the Kaudiyala river.

4 people were rescued

According to reports, after this accident, 4 people aboard the boat have been rescued safely, but more than 20 people including the sailor are still missing. Recently the gates of Ghaghra Barrage were opened, due to which the flow in the river was fast. However, after the accident, orders have now been given to close the gates of the barrage. Let us tell you that Kaudiyala river is a tributary of Ghaghra.
