‘Bagnaia will find a solution; I never thought I would win today, I knew Márquez had something more’ – Jorge Martín

Jorge Martín finished the Aragon GP Sprint in second place and admitted that he knew he would have no arguments beforehand to contradict the winner Marc Márquez.

Given the championship lead, he admits that it is not his concern at the moment, at the same time that he hopes to see Pecco Bagnaia stronger.

‘Pecco will somehow find a solution for tomorrow. At the moment it’s not so important [to be in the lead in the championship], the important thing is to stay up there and fight. Being the leader is not the only goal, I want to keep improving and I’m doing that, so I’m satisfied with that’ said the Pramac Racing Spaniard.

And he recalled a mistake… at Sachsenring: ‘In Germany I threw away an opportunity because of a mistake, then it is clear there is always someone who has something more, who in one circuit who in another, but I think it is a positive indicator of our current level. I was too fast and too bent, it was my mistake, it was almost impossible not to fall. If it hadn’t happened maybe I would have taken pole who knows, but today it would have been difficult’.

Faced with such a strong Márquez, Martín clarified that he never thought at any time that he could win:

– I never thought victory was possible today. I knew Marc had something more and I did what I could, although I made a good start and tried to chase him. At the beginning the feeling on the bike was good but after three laps my tires dropped a lot while he kept a constant pace. With the soft rear though I didn’t feel great, it pushes a lot on the front end. Maybe tomorrow using the medium I might be able to close the gap to him
