Bad news for star player from Pakistan after their massive 88-run loss to India in ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025

India women cricket team continued their dominant run against Pakistan in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 match on Sunday. Harmanpreet Kaur’s Team India extended their winning streak to 12-0 against arch-rivals Pakistan with a dominant 88-run win at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

It was Pakistan’s second-successive defeat in the ODI World Cup 2025 after their loss to Bangladesh in the opening game of the tournament. For Pakistan, batter Sidra Amin played a lone hand – top-scoring with 81 off 106 balls with 9 fours and a six. She was the 8th batter dismissed, caught by Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur off the bowling of all-rounder Sneh Rana.

Sidra Amin, was reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 match against India in Colombo on Sunday. Sidra was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to ‘abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match’.

In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to her disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period. The incident occurred when Sidra forcefully hit her bat onto the pitch after being dismissed in the 40thover.

Sidra admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Shandré Fritz of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing. On-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, third umpire Kerrin Klaaste and fourth umpire Kim Cotton levelled the charge.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

Chasing 248 to win set by Team India, Pakistan were bundled out for 159 in 43 overs with Indian pacer Kranti Goud claimed 3/20 and Deepti Sharma picking up 3/45. But Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues was confident about positive about the spirit in the team after back-to-back wins in the World Cup over Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

“We try to take it one day at a time and stay in the present. Even in our group conversations, we focus on building our own bubble because we know how much noise surrounds a World Cup. Whether we do well or face challenges, we want to keep all that outside and create our own energy. Everyone in this team genuinely looks out for each other and celebrates each other’s success. That comes so naturally and really strengthens our bond,” Rodrigues said after the match.
