Actor Babil Khan has opened up about his growing interest in golf, saying the sport has helped him deal with the pressure that comes with carrying a celebrated family legacy.
Babil, son of late actor Irrfan Khan, was recently seen enjoying a game of golf in the scenic surroundings of Pahalgam, where he is currently shooting for a project. Reflecting on what drew him to the sport, he said he discovered golf while searching for ways to navigate a period of intense personal and professional pressure.
“When life came to a point where immense pressure was needed to refine me to the next stage of my evolution, I started looking for tools to help that progress. I found golf in that search,” Babil said.
He added that the mindset required to play the sport has helped him understand the challenges of carrying forward a major artistic legacy.
“The disposition needed to play golf is also, at a grander stage, needed to handle the pressure of taking upon a legacy so big and being an actor in the lineage I come from,” he said.
Babil identified practice, focus and surrender as the three essentials of golf, saying they have helped him understand and navigate his own personal growth.
Golf has also become an activity he looks forward to between professional commitments, turning what began as a new interest into a meaningful pursuit.
Babil, 27, began his career as a camera assistant on the Bollywood film Qarib Qarib Single. He made his acting debut in 2022 with Anvita Dutt’s psychological drama Qala, alongside Triptii Dimri.
He subsequently appeared in Friday Night Plan in 2023, playing Siddharth Menon, the son of Juhi Chawla’s character. He was also part of the web series The Railway Men, based on events surrounding the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, alongside R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon and Divyenndu.
In May 2025, Babil deleted his Instagram profile after sharing a video, which he later removed, in which he appeared visibly emotional.
