National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh is gearing up for the release of her upcoming Hindi film Raftaar opposite Rajkummar Rao, slated for release in October. Although her previous hindi outing, Baby John, did not meet expectations, industry observers believe Bollywood remains an attractive destination for many South Indian actresses.
Writer-turned-producer Kona Venkat says there is nothing wrong with actresses aspiring to enter Hindi cinema.
He cites the examples of Rashmika Mandanna, who expanded her national appeal through Animal and Chhaava, while Samantha Ruth Prabhu earned appreciation for her performances in The Family Man Season 2 and Citadel: Honey Bunny. Actress Raashii Khanna also strengthened her presence through Hindi projects such as Farzi and Yodha.
However, Kona notes that success in Bollywood is never guaranteed. Despite establishing herself as one of the most respected performers in Telugu cinema, Sai Pallavi is still awaiting a major breakthrough in Hindi films. “Hits and flops are part of an actor’s career. They have to trust their talent and wait for the right opportunity. Sai Pallavi has a huge film like Ramayana, where she plays Goddess Sita, and that could become a massive blockbuster,” he adds.
According to Kona, the attraction towards Bollywood also about expanding market reach and connecting with a broader audience. “Hindi cinema continues to enjoy wider visibility across India and overseas markets, including parts of Europe and Africa. That larger reach naturally encourages actresses to expand their fan base,” he explains.
He further says that Bollywood success also opens doors to lucrative endorsement opportunities. “Rashmika is already endorsing leading brands and earning huge sums. Keerthy Suresh, Samantha and Sai Pallavi could also become major brand ambassadors and earn crores through endorsements. So Bollywood dreams are not only about films but also about bigger commercial opportunities,” he says.
