Azhar Mahmood Salary: Pakistan Cricket Board finally did what it is used to. Once again PCB has removed its coach even before the end of his contract. PCB has decided to part ways with Test team head coach Azhar Mahmood three months before the end of his contract. Former Test all-rounder Azhar’s contract was till March 2026, but he has been terminated prematurely. Let us tell you that Azhar had a two-year contract with the board and he was made the head coach of the Test team last year. The interesting thing is that due to this decision of PCB, Azhar Mahmood has got a profit of 45 crore Pakistani rupees. Let us tell you how?
Loss of Rs 45 crore to PCB
According to a PCB source, it was written in Azhar Mahmood’s contract that if he is released prematurely, PCB will give him compensation of 6 months’ salary. This amount is approximately 45 crore Pakistani rupees i.e. 13.6 crore Indian rupees. Pakistan Cricket Board was paying around Rs 75 lakh salary to Azhar Mahmood every month.
6 coaches removed in last 6 years
Pakistan Cricket Board has removed 6 coaches in the last 6 years. In the year 2019, Misbah-ul-Haq became the coach, after that Saqlain was made and he was removed. In 2023-24, Pakistan removed three coaches, which include the names of Abdul Rehman, Grant Bradburn and Mohammad Hafeez. Now Azhar Mahmood’s name has also been added to this list.
Azhar Mehmood’s career
Azhar Mahmood played 21 Tests and 143 ODI matches for Pakistan. He has 162 wickets in his name in international cricket and also managed to score 2421 runs. Mahmood played a lot of T20 cricket around the world and apart from taking 258 wickets in T20, he also has 4091 runs in his name with the help of two centuries.
