Ayushman Bharat Scheme: Ayushman Bharat Scheme has suffered a major setback in Haryana. 650 private hospitals have discontinued services. Target the government for payment of 490 crore arrears. Danger on treating patients, uma ultimatum.
Ayushman Bharat Haryana: In Haryana, Ayushman India-Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) has derailed badly. More than 650 private hospitals in the state have stopped all health services under the scheme from 12 noon, 6 August. This has a direct impact on more than 1.8 crore poor and middle class beneficiaries. IMA Haryana alleged that the state government did not pay ₹ 490 crore while the budget is much less than necessary.
What is the side of the Haryana government?
Ayushman Bharat Scheme Haryana Joint CEO Ankita Adhikari said that claims worth ₹ 470 crore are pending in the state. This is not only the situation in Haryana but the situation in the whole of India. The payment process is delayed due to lack of documents from hospitals.
The state government has said to release an amount of ₹ 245 crore (₹ 175 crore state + ₹ 70 crore center), but IMA said that this is not enough. The CM and the Chief Secretary assured the ₹ 2,500 crore annual budget, which has not been completed yet.

IMA’s charge and ultimatum
IMA Haryana wrote in a letter that as we had informed the letter number imahsb2025/133 on July 28, services will be suspended from 12 noon of 7.8.25 if the solution is not found. IMA also demanded that the government rejected interest on delay in payment.
What are the hospital saying?
Madhu Madhukar of Libra Hospital Palwal said that this decision is like imposing this decision on us. We are forced because the government is not giving funds. Now we will not be able to provide services to the patients through Ayushman Card. We have neither budget nor practical rates but we want to save the plan.

Not only Haryana, other states also in crisis
States like Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir, and Rajasthan are also struggling with the financial problems of Ayushman Yojana. Services have been announced temporarily in Manipur from 16 August.
What will patients have to do now?
Due to the arrears in the Ayushman scheme, poor patients will have the most problems. Now Ayushman cards will not be accepted in hospitals. Patients will have to pay cash for treatment. Relief from some hospitals is possible only in serious emergency cases. On the other hand, IMA Haryana has said that a decision will be taken in the review meeting on August 14 whether services should be restored or agitation should be further intensified.
