Ayush Shetty stuns World No.1 Kunlavut Vitidsarn to storm into Badminton Asia Championships final

New Delhi: Ayush Shetty produced one of the biggest victories of his career, defeating World No. 1 Kunlavut Vitidsarn and qualifying for the final of the Badminton Asia Championships 2026. The 20-year-old Indian came from a game down to seal the semifinal match by 10-21, 21-19, 21-17 in Ningbo on Saturday, April 11.

He became the first Indian men’s singles player after Dinesh Khanna to qualify for the finals of the prestigious tournament. Khanna is the only Indian shuttler to win the men’s singles gold medal at the continental meet in 1965. The Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty clinched the doubles title in 2023.
