Delhi batter Ayush Badoni recieved a maiden India call-up after being named as a replacement for injured Washington Sundar for the remainder of the New Zealand ODI series. Sundar sustained an injury in his lower rib area during the New Zealand innings and walked off the field after bowling just five overs. He did not return to the field as India claimed a four-wicket win in the opening ODI of the three-match series in Vadodara.
According to media reports, Sundar was taken for scans immediately and might need a few weeks’ rest. He is likely to return home before heading to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
The Tamil Nadu all-rounder is part of the India team for the upcoming T20 World Cup, and it is unclear if he will participate in the T20 series against New Zealand.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared the information through their official X handle.
