AWS Outage: More than 60 sites down due to problem in Amazon cloud service, see list of stalled apps

Amazon’s cloud service unit AWS suddenly went down on Monday, due to which many companies around the world are facing connectivity problems. Amazon itself is facing this problem and many websites and apps have come to a standstill.

Amazon Cloud Outage: Many major websites and apps came to a standstill due to technical glitches in Amazon’s cloud service AWS. According to outage tracking website DownDetector, services of several popular online platforms, including Amazon’s cloud division AWS, Robinhood, Snapchat and Perplexity AI, were either down or stalled on Monday, October 20.

Why did the problem arise?

The problem was caused by a technical glitch in Amazon Web Services (AWS), which operates a large portion of the Internet’s backend infrastructure. DownDetector reported more than 2,000 outage incidents for AWS in the US, tracing users experiencing issues accessing a variety of digital services and apps. Even Amazon’s own ecosystem could not survive due to this problem. Amazon.com, Prime Video and Alexa all faced connectivity issues.
