Yes! You read it right. After the clash of Sunny’s Apne and Emraan’s Awarapan, the two actors are now butting heads with their recent releases – Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2 respectfully. Despite the different genres, it was an interesting tiff at the box office.
For the uninitiated, Batwara 1947 is a period drama by Rajkumar Santoshi and set against the backdrop of India and Pakistan partition. Apart from Sunny Deol, Batwara 1947 also features Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hajare, Kanikka Kapur, etc. Marking Preity Zinta’s comeback after 8 years, Batwara 1947 also marks Rajkumar Santoshi’s reunion with Sunny after 30 years. On the other hand, Awarapan 2 is the sequel to the 2007 release Awarapan and also features Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi and Suvinder Vicky. Awarapan 2 marks Emraan’s second collaboration with Shabana and has opened to rave reviews from the audience and critic. In fact, it has been giving a tough fight to Batwara 1947.

According to a report published in Sacnilk, Batwara 1947 made a collection of Rs 50 lakhs in the overseas on day 7 (first Wednesday) taking the overall collection to Rs 7.75cr while the worldwide collection failed to touch Rs 50cr mark and settled at Rs 47.62cr after a week of release.

On the other hand, Awarapan 2 raked in Rs 1cr in overseas on day 7 (first Wednesday) taking the overall collection to Rs 26.3cr and the worldwide collection emerged as Rs 161.67cr in week 1.

While Awarapan 2 has managed to crush Batwara 1947 at the worldwide box office, the Emraan starrer has been leading by 239.5% over Sunny’s film in week 1.
