Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 are continuing their theatrical runs with very different box office trajectories. On Day 5, Emraan Hashmi’s romantic action-thriller sequel crossed a major milestone by entering the Rs 100 crore club in India, while Sunny Deol-led Batwara 1947 barely managed to cross the Rs 30 crore mark. While Awarapan 2 has maintained a strong pace despite the usual weekday dip, Batwara 1947 has witnessed comparatively modest collections after its opening weekend. Looks like Team Hashmi is winning this round in the battle of movies at the box office!

Awarapan 2 continued its strong theatrical run on its first Tuesday, as per estimates by Sacnilk. The Emraan Hashmi starrer collected Rs 9.50 crore net in India on Day 5, taking its total India net collection to Rs 100.50 crore. The film has now officially entered the Rs 100 crore club within five days of its release. Its India gross collection stands at Rs 120.04 crore, while the film has also performed strongly overseas.
On Day 5, Awarapan 2 collected Rs 2 crore gross from international markets. This took its total overseas gross collection to Rs 23.80 crore. Consequently, the film’s worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 143.84 crore.

Meanwhile, Batwara 1947 has crossed the Rs 30 crore mark in India. The Sunny Deol-led historical period drama collected Rs 2.15 crore net on its first Tuesday, taking its total India net collection to Rs 30.65 crore. The film’s India gross collection currently stands at Rs 36.42 crore, as per Sacnilk.
It also collected Rs 0.50 crore gross from overseas markets on Day 5, taking its overseas gross to Rs 6.75 crore. The worldwide gross collection of Batwara 1947 now stands at Rs 43.17 crore.

The film is based on Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai. The story follows a Muslim family that migrates from Lucknow to Lahore during the Partition of 1947. Upon arriving at their newly allotted haveli, they discover that a Hindu matriarch is still living there. The family patriarch then takes responsibility for protecting her amid growing communal tensions.
