Auto drivers in Hyderabad protest by climbing mobile tower over CNG shortage

Hyderabad: Three auto drivers were held after they climbed up a mobile tower and protested over CNG and LPG shortage in the city, leading to heavy police deployment on Sunday night.

The auto drivers staged a protest near Pillar No.294 on the PVNR Expressway in Shivrampally Jagir, stating that their livelihoods were severely affected by the fuel shortage. They said that they stood in queues for hours for CNG despite assurances from the state government about supply.

Panic buying, long queues, still no fuel:

The auto drivers climbed a nearby cell tower as they protested, triggering drama at the location. High number of police personnel were deployed to manage the situation. The three were brought down safely and were taken into custody.

The protests come amid panic buying in the city, leading to long queues of up to 1-2 km at many petrol bunks. The drivers demand uninterrupted supply of CNG to prevent any further disruption.
