British historian Andrew Lownie has made explosive claims about the relationship between US President Donald Trump, financier Jeffrey Epstein, and Britain’s Prince Andrew, alleging that the three were once part of the same exclusive social circle bound by shared interests.
Lownie, author of the forthcoming book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, told journalist Joanna Coles that “Trump and Andrew were close. They moved in very much the same circles. They had the same interests in golf, money, and sex.”
According to Lownie, Prince Andrew has long maintained he first met Epstein in 1999. The historian claims Andrew and his then-wife, Sarah Ferguson, had known the financier for nearly a decade before that.
In his account, Andrew was “easy prey for a rattlesnake like Epstein.” Lownie alleges Epstein exploited the royal for respectability, political access, and business connections. Quoting convicted fraudster Steven Hoffenberg, Epstein’s alleged mentor, Lownie says Andrew was regarded as Epstein’s “Super Bowl trophy.”
Trump, Andrew And ‘Buddy-Buddy’ Relationship
Lownie also claims that Andrew and Trump shared a closer relationship than either man has publicly acknowledged. He alleges that the two were once overheard in a US embassy discussing one of Trump’s favourite crude terms for women and even swapped lists of masseurs when visiting each other’s cities.
The White House did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Beast regarding the allegations. Trump has previously denied knowing anything about Andrew beyond what was public.
The Epstein Connection
Epstein’s name has been linked to both Trump and Andrew for decades. The financier, who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, was known for cultivating relationships with influential figures worldwide.
Prince Andrew’s ties to Epstein became a full-blown scandal after Virginia Giuffre accused the royal of sexual abuse when she was 17, alleging Epstein trafficked her for sex. In 2022, Andrew settled the civil lawsuit without admitting wrongdoing.

For Lownie, the alleged friendship between Trump, Epstein, and Andrew reveals the social dynamics of wealth and privilege, where shared interests and mutual benefit can forge powerful but controversial alliances. His book promises to delve deeper into what he calls “a particular moment in history when these men’s lives intersected in ways the public is only beginning to understand.”
