Controversy has erupted over ticket distribution in Bihar Congress. An audio of MLA Afaq Alam has been leaked, in which questions have been raised on ticket deduction. Alam has alleged selling tickets for ₹2.70 crore and interference from outside leader Pappu Yadav.
Patna: Before the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, there is a big storm regarding ticket distribution in the Congress Party. An alleged phone conversation (audio clip) between sitting Congress MLA Afaq Alam from Kasba Assembly seat in Darbhanga district and State Congress President Rajesh Ram has been leaked on social media. In this audio, major allegations of internal politics of Bihar Congress, alleged “horse-trading” in ticket distribution and interference of outside leaders have come to light.
Sports, elephant and horse, everything is happening…
In the viral audio, MLA Afaq Alam is purportedly heard asking Congress State President Rajesh Ram why his ticket was stopped. To this, Rajesh Ram replies, “We have signed as much as we could, but now whatever is in charge is with the in-charge… there is some Muktu and Irfan… games, elephants and horses, everything is happening.” In this conversation, two names were mentioned as “elephant” and “horse”, elephant i.e. Pappu Yadav and horse i.e. party in-charge Krishna Allavaru. According to the audio, Afaq Alam’s ticket was cut at the last moment and given to a candidate named Irfan, who had earlier also lost the Congress local committee election.

Ticket sold for Rs 2.70 crore
Afaq Alam confirmed this audio in a press conference and accused the Congress high command of selling tickets. He said, “A deal has been made for ₹ 2.70 crore in exchange for my ticket. I was clearly told that ‘bring the money, the ticket is assured’. When I refused, the ticket was given to Irfan. Now the party is not playing with ideology, but with money.” Afaq further said that he has been associated with Congress since 1990, working continuously among the public, but now the party has come under the control of “middlemen and fraud people”.
The elephant put pressure on the horse – new claim of Afaq
The MLA also said that Pappu Yadav (elephant) got the ticket by putting pressure on Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru (horse). “Pappu Yadav is not even a member of the Congress party, yet he is working to distribute tickets under the party flag. This is the biggest shameful chapter in the history of Congress.” He raised the question, “If Congress cuts its own MLAs and gives tickets to outsiders, then why will the public trust that party?”
Rahul Gandhi should intervene” – direct message from the MLA
Afaq Alam said that now this matter will go to Rahul Gandhi. “Rahul ji himself should see that his trusted leaders are selling tickets. Now there are no workers but middlemen running in Congress. If there is no cleanliness in the party, we will also think about the next step.”
