Audi tease 2026 RS 5, will debut it with plug-in hybrid V6

New Delhi: The next-generation of the Audi RS 5 is close to replacing the RS 4 as the brand’s next performance flagship aimed directly at the heart of the BMW M3. In the lead up to the launch, the brand from Germany have released a teaser of both the saloon and wagon trim that are coming.

They are based on the new A5; the 2026 RS 5 is more aggressive in terms of looks than its siblings, while still having the same overall wheelbase. At the front, it comes with a huge Singleframe grille flanked by a sizeable air intakes that visually stretch at the front. Further, there are sleek LED headlamps with Pixel LED DRLs fitted above and almost become part of the flared arches.

Both the liftback and Avant models come with a muscular silhouette defined with a tapering roof line, broad back haunches, and large alloy wheels. 

At the back, the RS 5 comes with a beefier diffuser that hosts dual-oval exhaust pipes and a race-spec brake light, with connected LED taillamps fitted above. The liftback version further adds a small lip spoiler on the tailgate, with Avant featuring a twin roof spoiler. For its exterior trim, Audi is expected to offer carbon-fibre or high-gloss black.

The RS5 will be getting a plug-in hybrid powertrain under the hood, and though there is nothing known officially, it is expected that the setup will pair an electric motor setup with the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine, which was seen in the previous RS 4 Avant. The performance figures are, of coure expected to vary on this car.
