AT&T Data Breach Class Action Settlement: How To Claim Up To $7,500 If You Were Affected

AT&T has settled a class action lawsuit over two major data breaches in 2024 and agrees to pay $177 million. The affected customers from these breaches may be eligible to receive up to $7,500 in compensation, but they will need to file a claim by November 18, 2025. The first breach, reported on March 30, 2024, involved highly sensitive personal information, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, birthdates, passcodes, billing data, and phone numbers.

This data was reportedly released on the dark web. A second incident, on July 12, 2024, involved a smaller-scale breach where data on account holders and the phone numbers they interacted with was illegally accessed.

Depending on which breach affected you, or if both impacted you, you may qualify for different levels of payment. Customers affected by the March 30 breach can claim up to $5,000 in reimbursement for documented financial losses, such as costs associated with identity theft or credit monitoring. Those impacted by the July 12 breach can claim up to $2,500 for similar documented losses.

If you do not have proof of financial loss, you may still be eligible for flat-rate payments through a tiered system. Tier 1 is available to those whose Social Security numbers were compromised in the March breach and offers five times the amount of Tier 2, which covers those affected by the breach without SSN exposure. Tier 3 applies to those impacted by the July incident. These flat payments will be distributed from the remaining settlement fund after deducting administrative costs, and the amount will depend on the number of people who file claims.

Importantly, individuals affected by both breaches can receive up to $7,500 total, provided they can document losses from both incidents.

How to Submit a Claim

To claim your compensation, visit the official AT&T Data Incident Settlement website and fill out the online claim form. Alternatively, you may also print and mail the completed form. All mailed claims must be postmarked by Tuesday, November 18, 2025, to be considered valid.

Ensure you have documentation ready if you’re applying for loss reimbursement. This may include receipts, bank statements, or any other paperwork that shows out-of-pocket costs related to the data breach. If you’re submitting a claim for a tiered cash payment without documentation, you’ll still need to verify your eligibility based on your data exposure.

AT&T has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to resolve the lawsuits.
