New Delhi: Barred from taking examinations after failing to meet the required attendance criteria — due to his dietary habits — a student of Marwadi University moved Gujarat high court seeking relief.
The fourth-year LLB student, while arguing his case in person, told the court that his prolonged absence from classes was due his dietary habits that stemmed from consuming pizzas and burgers over several months, according to a TOI report.
Student produces medical papers
He sough relief do that his academic progression won’t be affected. He also produced medical papers that cited acidity.
The doctor’s certificate mentioned that the student’s condition was due to him consuming pizza and burgers for months. He was a frequent visitor to the doctor as well.
The university after HC’s order to explore a solution told the court that the student can still appear for other exams including the final exams.
Student adamant to take exam
The student then contended that he had already missed Mid-Term I which carried 15 per cent weightage did not accept the university’s proposal. The court told the student to reconsider his decision.
The HC stated, “By that time, petitioner-party-in-person is directed to make his stand clear as to whether he wants to appear in Mid-Term-II examination, which is commencing from April 20, 2026. In case no affidavit is filed by the petitioner party-in-person by the next date of hearing, it shall be construed that the petitioner is not agreeable to the proposal given by the Respondent No. 3 — university.”
