Alia Bhatt has extended her support to the victims of the Assam floods. The deluge that hit the state over a week ago affected over 5 lakh people across Sivasagar, Charaideo, and Jorhat. After Bhumi Pednekar called for immediate attention, several Bollywood celebrities have been contributing to the rescue operation. In her latest Instagram Story, Alia assured to share contacts of relevant authorities and organisations that could help in the rescue mission in Assam. As per the latest development, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation in the state to assist the affected.

Alia stood in solidarity with the victims of the Assam floods. Extending support to the state that is facing ‘an incredibly challenging time’, the actress wrote, “More than 60 lives have been lost. Lakhs of people have been displaced. Entire families have lost their homes, their land, their livestock… and for some, even the people they love.”
Bhatt called for immediate action and assistance to those affected by the floods. “Assam needs immediate relief right now, and it’ll need support for the long road to recovery,” she added, before volunteering to help by ‘sharing a few ways we can support relief efforts over the next few days, through organisations working on the ground.’

Bhumi Pednekar calls for urgent attention to Assam floods
Bhumi shared a video on Instagram asking people to join in the rescue mission. “Assam needs a lot of supplies. Food, mattresses, sanitation, and evacuation. If you see the visuals, your heart will break. It is very, very heartbreaking, and Assam really needs our support. I request everyone to donate as much as possible. And spread this message a little,” she said. The actress attached a link in her Instagram bio through which people could volunteer.
Assam floods update
ANI reported the update provided by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). Reportedly, the flood situation in the state remained grim on Tuesday, with over 4.45 lakh people affected across six districts, including Sivasagar and Charaideo.
According to the ASDMA, a total of 631 villages remain inundated, while relief operations continue through 184 camps and distribution centres sheltering nearly 28,700 people. Authorities said no human casualties have been reported so far, although extensive damage has been caused to homes, roads, schools, agriculture and livestock across the affected districts.
Besides Assam, several regions in Gujarat are flood-stricken. Reportedly, over 35 people were killed during the floods, and over 7,000 people have been rescued.
