Assam: Deshabhakti quiz organized under aegis of DIPR

Guwahati: In alignment with the celebration of the 5th Deshbhakti Divas in the state, a grand Quiz Competition was organized today by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Assam. The event witnessed participation not only from Assam but also from several other states across India. Held at the Srimanta Sankaradeva International Auditorium, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati, the competition drew participation from a total of 348 teams out of 650 registered teams. Contestants from states like Kerala and Delhi also took part in the event, making it a truly national-level competition.

Renowned quizmaster Achinta Sharma conducted the competition, which was held in two phases – a preliminary round and a final round. The preliminary round consisted of a written test comprising 32 questions, in which all 348 teams participated. From this round, six teams were shortlisted for the final round. These teams are Across the College Gate, Oo Aa Ka Kha, Saare Jahan Se Accha, Ghadar Party, The Three Body Problem and DAB. Ultimately, The Three Body Problem team emerged as the winner, while Saare Jahan Se Accha and Ghadar Party secured the second and third positions respectively.

The winners will be handed over the prizes tomorrow during the state level Deshbhakti Divas celebration. First prize is 1 lakh, 2nd 75 thousand and 3rd prize is 50 thousand. Moreover, other three teams will also be given prize money.

A notable and inspiring aspect of this competition was the participation of members from three generations within the same team, reflecting the spirit of unity and shared patriotism.

The event began with Commissioner & Secretary of the Departments of Information, Public Relations, Printing & Stationery, Kumar Padmapani Bora paying tribute to the great patriot Tarun Ram Phukoon and extending best wishes for the success of the quiz competition.

Hon’ble Minister Shri Pijush Hazarika graced the occasion. He appreciated the efforts of the officers and staff of the
Directorate for organizing such a grand event. The Minister also expressed gratitude to all the participants and praised the inter-generational participation, calling it truly inspirational. He also expressed delight as teams from outside the states have also participated.

Between the two rounds of the quiz, cultural performances were presented by the cultural wing of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations and invited artists.

It may be noted that since 2021, Deshbhakti Divas has been celebrated in memory of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukoon. Under the initiative of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, this day is observed across the state at the state and district levels.

Tomorrow, at 9 AM, floral tributes will be paid at the statue of Tarun Ram Phukoon at Tarun Ram Phukoon Udyan, Bharalumukh. The state-level programme will be held at 11 AM at the conference hall of Lok Sewa Bhawan, Assam Secretariat.
