16th asian shooting championship: The ongoing 16th Asian Shooting Championship (all events) at Shyamkant in Kazakhstan has ended. In this 12 -day competition, India’s shooters performed brilliantly. The Indian team won 50 gold medals by performing the best ever. Never before did India get so many gold medals.
Senior team performed well in 15 Olympic events of rifle, pistol and shotgun. Indian shooters won six gold, two silver and three bronze medals. China topped the top. Its players won 8 gold. Host Kazakhstan won a gold medal.
Sky touching the shooting of the shooting world
NRAI (National Rifle Association of India) President Kalikesh Narayan Singh Dev said, “This is a great performance. It is clear that the confidence of the shooting world is touching the sky. In the championship, India was just slightly behind the figure of 100 medals. Team India won 26 silver and 23 bronze medals in addition to 50 gold medals. The hosts finished second with 70 medals and 21 gold medals. China finished third with 15 gold and 37 medals.
Senior players performed well
Two -time Olympian Elavenil Valarivan won the second Asian title with an Asian record score in women’s air rifle. He won double gold in the mixed team event with Arjun Babuuta. Neeru Dhanda won the first Asian Championship gold for India in women’s trap. SIFT Kaur Samra won the first Asian title in women’s 50 rifle 3-position (3P). Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar defended the men’s 3P title.

Indian junior shooters also won 10 gold, four silver and three bronze medals in all the Olympic events, keeping their dominance completely. Other gold medals came in youth competitions and team events as well as non-Olympic events. For example, the former world champion Ankur Mittal won the gold medal with a world record score of 107 in the men’s double trap event. At the same time, Rio Olympian Gurpreet Singh won the gold medal in the men’s 25m standard pistol event.
