India’s shooting stars delivered a double podium finish in the men’s 10m air rifle at the Asian Games on Monday, with Himanshu Dhillon winning silver and Rudrankksh Patil taking bronze in a gripping final.
China’s Sheng Lihao claimed gold with 254.2 points.
Rudrankksh made a blazing start, taking the early lead before Himanshu joined the medal battle. The Indian pair remained locked in a tight contest through the final stages. Rudrankksh was eventually eliminated in third place on 230.9 points, while Himanshu held his nerve to finish second with 252.4, 1.8 points behind Sheng.
The individual success came after another silver for the trio of Rudrankksh, Himanshu and Parth Mane in the men’s 10m air rifle team event. India posted 1890.1 points, behind China’s 1899.0, with South Korea taking bronze.
Earlier, Aadhya Tiwari and Jay Meena advanced to the soft tennis mixed doubles round of 16 after finishing second in their group. India also registered a 3-0 win over Pakistan in women’s team table tennis.
