Bengaluru Chinnaswamy Stadium: This year Bengaluru has two big shocks. The Chinnaswamy Stadium has been excluded from the Women’s ODI World Cup, and the Sri Kanterwa Stadium has been stopped from hosting India’s AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifier match.

Asian Cup 2027: Big news for Bangalore sports lovers. The city’s two major stadiums have recently been excluded from the host for the international tournament. A few days ago, the famous M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was removed from the Women’s ODI Cup to be held next month for some reason. Now the football stadium of the city, Mr. Kanterwa has also been dropped out of the hosting of the 2027 AfC Asian Cup qualifier match between India and Singapore.

Permission not received after inspection

The All India Football Federation selected the Kantirawa Stadium for this important domestic match to be held on 14 October. But AFC refused to allow the stadium after inspecting. After this decision, AIFF is now looking at the options to match matches in other cities like Goa and Shillong. Football officials say the Kantirawa Stadium is a multipurpose stadium and was already booked for several programs, so it became difficult to fix the match time and arrangements.

“The condition of the field is not good”

Aslam Khan, deputy secretary and former international footballer of the Karnataka State Football Federation, said that he has successfully organized the first SAFF Cup tournament. Aslam Khan’s talk seems that the local organizers are a bit disappointed. He says that the stadium has previously handled the big tournament, yet it was excluded from this year’s biggest football match. But the real situation is somewhat different. A senior AIFF official said that the AFC match commissioner has many concerns about the stadium. According to the official, “The condition of the field is not good and many other things are not right to have international matches.” In addition, Bangalore FC has now stopped the operation of the stadium, causing the field care and preparation to not be enough.
