Post the heroic display in England, the Indian team are heading for a long break before they get into another gruelling season where they will have intense action till the 2026 T20 World Cup in all formats, which the Men in Blue will co-host alongside Sri Lanka.
After India’s tour of Bangladesh was postponed to 2026, the Indian team have no more cricket in August as things stand. The Men in Blue’s next assignment will be the 2025 Asia Cup, which will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In Test cricket, India will be next seen in action during a home series against the West Indies and South Africa of two matches each. In between the two red-ball assignments, the team will travel to Australia for an ODI and T20I series.
India will also play a home series in both white-ball formats against South Africa and New Zealand before attentions turn towards defending their T20 World Cup title.

In recent times, there have been reports of India possibly travelling to Sri Lanka for a white-series in August but no confirmation has yet arrived.
The 2025 Asia Cup could also feature as many as three matches between India and their arch-rivals, Pakistan. The two neighbouring nations last played eahc other in February during the 2025 Champions Trophy in Dubai.
Overall, India is set to play 22-31 T20Is till the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL), with 18-22 before the T20 World Cup among them. The Shubman Gill-led side will play four Test matches till the end of the year. Meanwhile, there are 9 ODIs scheduled till the end of January, which will feature Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who retired from the other two formats.
