Asia Cup Controversy: Pakistan Cricket Cries Foul, Files Official Complaint Over Allegedly ‘Suspicious’ Decision

Pakistan cricket team management has raised a formal appeal over Fakhar Zaman’s dismissal during the Asia Cup clash against India on Sunday.

Alleging that the third umpire had incorrecty reviewed the decision, the Pakistan’s team manager wrote an email to the match referee and umpires, questioning the decision-making process.

According to a report quoted by Samaa TV, sources claimed the management also claimed that despite the evidence not being “clear and conclusive”, TV umpire did not examine all available angles before ruling in favour of the fielding side.

After the match, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha too questioned the legality of Fakhar Zaman’s dismissal, suggesting the ball may have bounced before reaching wicketkeeper Sanju Samson.

“I don’t know about the decision. It’s obviously the umpire’s job. Umpires can make mistakes. And I have no problem with that. But it does look like it bounced before it was carried to the keeper,” Salman said after India beat Pakistan by six wickets in Dubai.

“But I might be wrong. I don’t know. You can say the way he was batting, if he batted throughout the powerplay, we probably would have scored 190. But yeah, that’s the umpire’s call. And they can make mistakes. I don’t know. To me, it bounced before it reached the keeper.”

However, despite the defeat and decision not going Pakistan’s way, Salman did praise the southpaw for his batting effort and said, “There’s a lot of positives – the way Fakhar batted, Farhan batted and Harry bowled. Looking forward to the next game against Sri Lanka.”

“We are yet to play a perfect game, but we are getting there,” he concluded.
