The International Cricket Council has taken action against players involved in cases of code of conduct violations in different matches during the Asia Cup 2025. These incidents are related to the matches played between India and Pakistan in September 2025. Taking these violations seriously, the ICC has given punishments like fine, warning and ban, which is a big step towards maintaining the dignity of the game. Due to which star players like Haris Rauf, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah have had to face punishment.
Haris Rauf banned for so many matches
Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf has been given the biggest punishment by the ICC for violating the code of conduct during the Asia Cup. Actually, Haris Rauf has been fined match fee due to two separate incidents and has also been given 2-2 demerit points for both the incidents. This means that in a period of 24 months, Rauf has received a total of four demerit points, due to which he has been banned for 2 international matches. He will not be able to be a part of the ODI matches against South Africa on 4 and 6 November 2025.
Which player received what punishment?
The first match between the two teams was played on 14 September. The referee of this match, Richie Richardson, found Suryakumar Yadav guilty under Article 2.21 of the Code of Conduct, due to which he will have to pay a fine of 30 percent of the match fee and has also been given two demerit points. An official warning was also issued by Pakistan to Sahibzada Farhan for violating the same article, along with which one demerit point was added. At the same time, fast bowler Haris Rauf was also found guilty of Article 2.21. As part of his punishment, 30 percent of his match fee was deducted and two demerit points were given.
The referee of the second match was Andy Pycroft. He found Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh innocent, who was charged under Article 2.6, which deals with obscene, insulting or offensive gestures.
There was chaos in the final match
Indian star bowler Jasprit Bumrah accepted the charge under Article 2.21 for the final match. Due to this he received an official warning and one demerit point. Bumrah got this punishment because of his celebration. However, Haris Rauf was found to have violated Article 2.21 even in the final. After the hearing, he was fined 30 percent of his match fee and given two demerit points.
