New Delhi: Bangladesh pulled off a thrilling four-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in their Super 4 match of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Stadium. Bangladesh captain, after winning the toss, opted to field first and then later chased down the total in a nail-biting final over.
Bangladesh easily restricted the six-time champions and gained an early advantage in the tournament’s Super 4 campaign.
Sri Lanka struggled to build a massive total but got crucial contributions from their top and middle order. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis provided a solid platform at the start, giving the innings much-needed stability. The bulk of the scoring came from Dasun Shanaka, who remained unbeaten on 64, steering Sri Lanka to a modest 168/7. While the total was competitive, Bangladesh knew it was within reach if they managed their chase carefully.
