Asha Negi is embracing a more flexible approach to acting, with the actress particularly enjoying the opportunities offered by OTT platforms. Speaking to IANS about her journey from television to streaming projects, Asha said she wants to focus on acting across mediums rather than limiting herself to one format.
The actress explained that OTT projects generally have shorter production schedules, allowing her to complete one assignment and then take some time before beginning another. For Asha, this has created space to experience life away from work and eventually return to the screen with a completely different character.
She said this freedom is something she did not experience to the same extent during her television years.
Actress Says OTT Allows Her To Take A Break
Asha said she remembers how demanding television schedules could be, leaving little room for a personal life between projects. The comparatively shorter timelines of many OTT productions have changed that routine for her.
According to the actress, completing a streaming project within a few months can allow her to step away from work temporarily before committing to another role. She said this process has helped her enjoy a balance between professional assignments and her life outside the industry.
The opportunity to return after a break and play a substantially different character is also something Asha finds exciting. She said experimenting with new roles has become an important part of the way she now approaches her career.
From Pavitra Rishta To OTT Projects
Asha became widely recognised through television, particularly for her work in Pavitra Rishta, which starred the late Sushant Singh Rajput. She later gained another significant milestone with the web series Baarish, expanding her presence in the streaming space.
Her television career began in 2010 with Sapnon Se Bhare Naina. The following year, she appeared as Apeksha Malhotra in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. She subsequently featured in shows including Ek Mutthi Aasmaan and Kuch Toh Hai Tere Mere Darmiyaan.
Asha also participated in the reality show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 6, adding another dimension to her television career.

In 2013, Asha participated in Nach Baliye 6 and emerged as the winner of the dance reality show. Her success on reality television added to her visibility at a time when she was already established through scripted programmes.
