Arunachal Truck Fall: A truck carrying 22 laborers from Assam fell into a ditch on the Hyuliang-Chaglagam road in Arunachal Pradesh. 18 bodies have been recovered from the accident and one person was rescued alive. The rescue operation is still going on.
Arunachal Pradesh Truck Accident: A terrible accident has taken place in Arunachal Pradesh, in which a truck loaded with laborers from Tinsukia district of Assam fell into a ditch. The accident occurred on the night of December 8 near Hyuliang-Chaglagam Road, China border. Due to the difficult geographical location of this area, lack of network connectivity and bad roads, the officials came to know about the accident late on Wednesday evening.
Information about the accident and rescue operation continues
According to police, rescue and search operations were started on Thursday morning. A video clip of the accident surfaced on Wednesday, in which the only surviving labourer, Budheshwar Deep, is seen sitting on the roadside in a seriously injured condition. After the truck fell into the ditch, he somehow climbed up. According to an Army press release, the vehicle skidded off the mountain road and fell into a dense and inaccessible forest about 1,000 feet below. A total of 22 people were traveling in the truck, which was going to a construction site in Arunachal Pradesh.
How many deaths in Arunachal Pradesh accident?
So far 18 bodies have been recovered and rescue operations are underway. 19 dead have been identified. All the deceased were from Gelapukhuri Tea Estate in Tinsukia district of Assam. Only one laborer is left. The names of the deceased and missing laborers are Rahul Kumar, Sameer Deep, Juna Kumar, Pankaj Manki, Ajay Manki, Bijay Kumar, Abhay Bhumij, Rohit Manki, Birendra Kumar, Agar Tanti, Dheeran Cheteya, Rajni Nag, Deep Gowala, Ramchabak Sonar, Sonatan Nag, Sanjay Kumar, Karan Kumar and Jonas Munda.
Rescue operation continues
The Army and the district administration have used all available means. Despite the difficult geographical conditions, rescue teams are continuing to recover the dead and save any survivors. The inaccessible and narrow roads of this area are posing a big challenge in the rescue work.
