Team India’s star fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, who is busy preparing for the T20 World Cup 2026, seems to be in good form. Arshdeep Singh, who proved to be important for Team India in the World Cup, took part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy to test his preparations and wreaked havoc in his very first match. The left arm fast bowler sent half the team back to the pavilion in his 10 overs in the match against Sikkim. Arshdeep played a big role in reducing Sikkim to just 75 runs by taking 5 wickets in his 10 overs.
Punjab and Sikkim were face to face in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match on Saturday, July 3 in Jaipur. Eyes were on this match because Shubhman Gill And Arshdeep Singh was going to be a part of it. Shubman Gill could not play this match due to illness but Arshdeep Singh got a place in the playing-11 and he started his work without much delay.
Arshdeep wreaked havoc in 9 consecutive overs
Sukhdeep Singh Bajwa made the start for Punjab, when this pacer took 2 wickets in the second over of the innings itself. But after this only Arshdeep remained dominant. This pacer from Punjab took the first wicket in his third over and then the collapse occurred. Arshdeep bowled 9 consecutive overs and sent back 5 Sikkim batsmen to the pavilion. Overall, he took 5 wickets for just 34 runs in his 10 over spell. Apart from them, spinner Mayank Markande took 2 wickets and Gurnoor Brar took 1 wicket and the entire team collapsed for just 75 runs.
This performance of Arshdeep came on the day when Team India was to be selected for the ODI series against New Zealand. Actually, the performance of this match had no impact on Arshdeep’s selection and it was certain that he would be selected on the basis of form. All eyes are on whether the selectors decide to rest him in view of the T20 World Cup or ask him to play in this series as well.
What happened to Shubman Gill suddenly?
Talking about this match, Team India’s ODI captain Shubman Gill was also to be a part of it. But after eating food his health suddenly deteriorated. According to the report, before the match against Sikkim, Gill got food poisoning, due to which it was decided at the last moment to rest him from this match. However, it is expected that he will play in the match against Goa on 6th January.
