Actor Arjun Rampal recently shed light on the circumstances surrounding his departure from the iconic film ‘Rang De Basanti’, a role ultimately played by Siddharth.
Rampal had initially been cast as Karan Singhania and even shot for a couple of days before an unexpected exit from the set.
Speaking on ‘Koffee with Karan’, Rampal suggested that superstar Aamir Khan might have had reservations about his casting. “I had heard rumors that Aamir Khan does take a keen interest in his films, and I would have loved to work with him. But out of respect to him, he did have a lot of fears that he put on the table,” Rampal stated, implying Aamir’s concerns influenced the decision.
Beyond Aamir’s apprehension, Rampal also pointed to issues with director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. He described the director as “very confused” and “erratic” regarding the script. “I had a problem with the director. I was signed for the film. I had a new look and blocked my dates. It just became very confusing because the director was very confused,” Rampal explained.
Rampal further revealed that he had committed three months to the project, turning down other lucrative offers. He expressed frustration, calling the situation “very unprofessional” and lamenting the loss of other work opportunities due to the unexpected change.
