Are you also using expensive iPhone apps? Know how you can save money

iPhone vs Android: The founder of ‘The Mavericks’, while sharing his tech experience on social media, said, switched from iPhone to Android and found that the same apps are 13 times cheaper on Android. Different reactions are being seen on his post.

iPhone vs Android App Price Comparison: Did you know that the actual value of the apps you are using can vary up to 13 times depending on your device? Yes, you read it right. Chetan Mahajan, Founder and CEO of ‘The Mavericks’ recently switched from iPhone to Android and the experience he got was quite surprising for him.

20 days whatsapp transfer journey

Chetan Mahajan wrote in a LinkedIn post, ‘I thought transferring WhatsApp would be easy, but the reality was different. I experienced 10 backup failures, lost time creating multiple iCloud backups, and had to do a factory reset multiple times while handling two phones simultaneously. The process was completely exhausting and lasted 20 days. I was almost about to give up. Then Generative AI helped me and suggested some apps. I chose MobileTrans app and with its help I transferred my 10 years old WhatsApp chats very easily. The same service on Apple was priced at Rs 2,499 per month. It was definitely expensive, but I was relieved to get the history of the last 10 years back.

Same app on Android for just Rs 186

Chetan Mahajan further says, ‘Then I was shocked when the same MobileTrans was available on Android for just Rs 186. That means I was paying 13 times more for the same app on Apple. Same was the story with other services like YouTube Premium, which was Rs 389 on Apple and only Rs 299 on Android. For years I was paying more for the same experience, while not getting any extra benefits.

Chetan says, ‘This experience taught me a big lesson about how important transparency is. It is often underrated. Be it technology, business or relationships, having a clear understanding of what we give and what we get builds trust. I understood that sometimes we pay more money just because of the brand and we don’t even realize it.

Android gave me real freedom

He said, ‘After switching to Android, I felt a new freedom. Now I am just a user, no type or brand identity. I am a consumer who is paying the right price and can make decisions with my options. Maybe now I have to spend less on online shopping too. I still use an iPad, MacBook and AirPods, but the emotional connection is no longer there. I realized that freedom is not just in having a phone, but in getting treated right according to your values.
