Apple has confirmed strong demand for its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, as delivery estimates have moved to January 2027. The company opened pre-orders for the device on Friday evening after a long wait.
Within less than an hour, estimated delivery dates began slipping into next year. Apple’s website now shows late January delivery dates for all configurations of the foldable phone. Despite the delay, customers can still place pre-orders through Apple’s website.
Apple says iPhone Duo demand has been extraordinary
Apple has acknowledged the strong response to its first foldable iPhone. In a statement to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company said, “Demand for iPhone Duo, our first foldable iPhone, has been nothing short of extraordinary. We are working hard to get this revolutionary new product into customers’ hands as quickly as possible, and we will continue accepting orders online.”
The company also highlighted its retail stores as a place for customers to experience the new device. Apple said, “Our teams look forward to welcoming customers at Apple Stores worldwide to experience the iPhone Duo and the incredible full iPhone line-up for themselves.”
However, Gurman pointed out that Apple’s statement mentions online orders but does not directly confirm whether the device will be available to buy in stores. The company only said that customers would be able to experience the phone at its retail locations.

Can customers get the iPhone Duo earlier in stores?
Apple is scheduled to launch the iPhone Duo in stores on October 23. The company usually keeps some stock for customers who prefer to buy devices in person. This means shoppers will most likely have a chance to get the foldable phone earlier at an Apple Store, even if online orders face longer delivery times. However, Apple has not confirmed how many units will be available at its stores.
Also, it is important to note that several users have reported on X (formerly Twitter) that they were able to secure the iPhone Duo with delivery scheduled for its October 23 launch date, suggesting that some customers may still be able to get the device earlier.
Apple iPhone Duo price in India and colours
Apple announced the iPhone Duo in September. The device features a shorter, passport-style design, similar to the foldable form factor introduced by Samsung earlier this year.
The 256GB variant is priced at Rs 2,99,900. The 512GB variant costs Rs 3,24,900, while the 1TB version costs Rs 3,74,900. Buyers looking for the highest storage option will have to pay Rs 4,49,900 for the 2TB variant. It comes in two colour options: Star White and Night Sky.
With delivery estimates now pushed to late January 2027, customers looking to get their hands on the iPhone Duo may have to wait several months if they order online.
