Apple launches iPad Pro with M5 chip: faster AI, OLED display, and iPadOS 26

New Delhi: Apple has unveiled the new iPad Pro powered by its next-generation M5 chip, marking one of the biggest upgrades in the lineup’s history. The device comes with massive improvements in performance, AI capabilities, and display technology. Available in 11-inch and 13-inch variants, the new iPad Pro will go on sale globally from October 22, 2025, with pre-orders already open.

Apple says the M5 chip takes AI on iPad to a new level, offering up to 3.5 times faster AI performance than the M4 and up to 5.6 times faster than the M1 models. With the new Ultra Retina XDR display and iPadOS 26, Apple’s premium tablet aims to deliver desktop-class performance in a thin, portable design.

M5 chip brings a major AI performance jump

The M5 chip introduces a redesigned 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator built into each core, significantly boosting on-device AI tasks. Apple says this makes features like image generation in Draw Things and AI-powered video masking in DaVinci Resolve faster and smoother.

The 16-core Neural Engine also enhances Apple Intelligence features such as Image Playground and Live Translation, while improving battery efficiency. This makes it easier for users to run heavy workloads like 3D rendering, design projects, or gaming without lag.

Better graphics, faster storage, and improved multitasking

The iPad Pro’s CPU combines four performance and six efficiency cores, enabling faster rendering and video editing. Apple claims up to 6.7x faster 3D rendering and 6x faster video transcoding compared to the M1-powered iPad Pro.

Storage speeds are now twice as fast, and the 256GB and 512GB models come with 12GB of unified memory, 50% more than before. The device also supports fast charging, allowing users to reach 50% battery in about 30 minutes with the new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter.

Faster connectivity with C1X and N1 chips

Apple’s new C1X modem brings up to 50% faster cellular speeds, while the N1 networking chip adds Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread support. Together, they make the iPad Pro more reliable for professionals who work on the go.

For users who depend on high-speed networks, this update ensures smoother data transfers and more stable connections during multitasking or large file uploads.

New design, display, and iPadOS 26

The latest iPad Pro is Apple’s thinnest ever , the 13-inch version measures just 5.1 mm thick. It features an Ultra Retina XDR display with tandem OLED panels offering 1600 nits peak brightness and a nano-texture glass option for reduced glare.

iPadOS 26 introduces new multitasking tools, a windowing system, and a redesigned interface made with “Liquid Glass.” It also adds new Apple Intelligence features and a Preview app for editing PDFs.

Price and availability in India

The 11-inch iPad Pro with M5 starts at ₹99,900 for the Wi-Fi model, while the 13-inch version starts at ₹1.29 lakh. Cellular variants cost ₹20,000 more. Accessories like the Magic Keyboard (₹29,900) and Apple Pencil Pro (₹11,900) are sold separately.

Apple says the new iPad Pro will be available in space black and silver, with configurations up to 2TB storage.
