New Delhi: Apple has unveiled its new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M5 chip, bringing faster AI performance, improved efficiency, and up to 24 hours of battery life. The laptop is designed to handle AI-heavy workloads while maintaining the same starting price of ₹1,69,900. It will be available in space black and silver, with pre-orders open and sales beginning October 22.
Apple says the new MacBook Pro is built for creators, developers, and business users who rely on demanding applications. The M5 chip delivers up to 3.5 times better AI performance and up to 1.6 times faster graphics compared to the previous M4 model.
M5 chip takes AI on Mac to a new level
Apple claims the M5 is the “next big leap in AI for the Mac,” featuring a next-generation 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator in every core. This setup enables faster AI-driven workflows, from text-to-image generation in apps like Draw Things to running large language models locally in LM Studio.
John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, said that the M5 “marks the next big leap in AI for the Mac” and “delivers a huge boost in graphics performance, accelerating demanding workflows for everyone from students to creatives, developers to business professionals.”
The new 16-core Neural Engine also enhances Apple Intelligence features, improving on-device generative tasks such as translation, summarization, and automation. Users can now load and run local AI models faster thanks to up to 2x faster SSD performance and 4TB of available storage.
Faster graphics, longer battery life, and smoother multitasking
The M5’s 10-core CPU provides up to 20 percent faster multithreaded performance than the M4 chip, making it suitable for users who run heavy apps like Blender, Rhino, and Xcode. Graphics performance is also significantly higher, with up to 1.6x faster rendering in creative software and higher frame rates in games.
Battery life remains one of the biggest highlights. Apple says users upgrading from Intel-based Macs can expect up to 14 hours of extra battery life, and those moving from M1 models will see up to four additional hours, reaching a total of 24 hours on a single charge.
Built for upgraders and professionals
Apple has positioned the 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 as a major upgrade for both Intel and M1 users. According to the company’s data, it delivers up to 86x faster AI performance and 30x better GPU performance compared to Intel-based systems.
The MacBook Pro also features Apple’s Liquid Retina XDR display with a nano-texture option, offering 1600 nits of peak HDR brightness. The six-speaker setup supports Spatial Audio, while the 12MP Center Stage camera ensures clear video calls. macOS Tahoe, Apple’s newest operating system, enhances the overall experience with better multitasking, new Spotlight actions, and Live Translation built into FaceTime and Messages.
Price and availability in India
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 is priced at ₹1,69,999, while students can purchase it for ₹1,59,999 under Apple’s education offer. Customers can pre-order via the Apple India Store or the Apple Store app, and the laptops will be available from October 22.
