The video, posted by Wylsacom, has sparked fresh debate in the Apple community. This is not the first time the channel has surfaced with early looks at unreleased Apple products. In October 2024, it managed to show off the M4 MacBook Pro before Apple’s official event, and that unboxing turned out to be authentic.
What the leaked video shows
The video features a 13-inch iPad Pro with 256GB storage. At first glance, the packaging looks nearly identical to the M4 version. The only noticeable difference is the chip label on the box. The front images are the same, which suggests this could be a pre-release unit without final packaging.
Opening the box, the iPad Pro appears almost identical to the M4 model. A 45W charger is included inside instead of the usual 20W, and there’s also a colored cable that matches the tablet’s casing. The back of the unit lacks the regulatory and product markings seen on Apple’s commercial versions, which again points towards this being a non-final unit.
Benchmarks and hardware changes
When switched on, the settings menu lists the device as an M5 iPad Pro. Benchmark tests using Geekbench 6 showed noticeable jumps in performance.
- Single-core score: 4,133 (M5) compared to 3,748 (M4)
- Multi-core score: 15,437 (M5) compared to 13,324 (M4)
- Metal GPU score: 74,568 (M5) compared to 55,702 (M4)
The chip is listed as an “ARM” processor clocked at 4.41GHz. Another big change spotted is memory, with the M5 model carrying 12GB RAM against 8GB in the M4.
Design stays the same
On the outside, Apple seems to have kept the design unchanged. The rear cameras remain identical, and the much-rumored dual camera setup was nowhere to be seen. From a distance, the M4 and M5 models are nearly indistinguishable.
Parallel imports and past leaks
One reason why such leaks appear from Russia could be related to the way Apple products are imported there. While Apple has stopped direct sales in the country, “parallel imports” have kept devices flowing in through other markets. This may also explain how early units sometimes surface on local platforms.
Wylsacom’s track record adds weight to the leak. Their M4 MacBook Pro unboxing in 2024 also showed unusual packaging details but proved genuine after Apple’s launch. The same could be happening again with the M5 iPad Pro.
What it means ahead of Apple’s event
The timing of this leak suggests that Apple’s new iPad Pro lineup is close to launch. With the M5 chip benchmarks now out in the wild, expectations around performance gains are rising. However, without official confirmation, these details remain unverified.
If true, though, Apple fans may already have a good idea of what to expect when the M5 iPad Pro takes the stage later this year.
