Anupama Parameswaran Slams Double Standards After Breakup, Questions Societal Norms

Actress Anupama Parameswaran, who recently ended a relationship, has voiced her frustration over perceived double standards. In a lengthy Instagram post, the actress reflected on how certain actions are judged differently depending on who performs them.

“The things you were once made to feel guilty about have a funny way of becoming perfectly normal when the roles are reversed,” she wrote, without naming anyone specifically. She highlighted the irony of being questioned for expressing happiness or appreciating loved ones, only to see the same actions performed by others without scrutiny.

Parameswaran expressed her bewilderment, stating, “It’s fascinating how something as simple and innocent as expressing happiness, appreciating the people who love and support you, or enjoying little moments in life can somehow be made to feel like a mistake.” She added that she was often made to question her intentions and explain herself for things that never warranted an apology.

She further observed, “And then, one fine day, you watch those very same things being done so effortlessly, so publicly, and with absolutely no hesitation. Suddenly, the rules are different. The perspectives have changed. What was once unacceptable is now completely acceptable.” This experience led her to conclude, “It makes you realise that sometimes, it was never really about what you did. It was about who was allowed to do it.”

The actress also addressed her social media interactions, clarifying that she has always enjoyed connecting with her followers. She emphasized that while she values these connections, they will not come at the cost of her peace. “I’ll continue doing so genuinely and sustainably, but not desperately or at the cost of my own peace. Life beyond social media comes with its own responsibilities and battles,” she affirmed, urging fans to refrain from comparisons regarding social media engagement.
