Actor Anupama Parameswaran dismissed speculation that she hinted at a breakup with her rumoured boyfriend and Bison Kaalamaadan co-star Dhruv Vikram. The 30-year-old clarified that her Instagram posts reflected her personal thoughts and a woman’s transition while speaking at the teaser launch of her upcoming film Crazy Kalyanam.
The rumours gathered pace after Anupama returned to Instagram after a months-long break. She had last posted in February to thank fans for birthday wishes. Her new yellow-themed photos and videos looked cheerful, but captions about healing, freedom and choosing herself led many social media users to link them to Dhruv. Neither Anupama nor Dhruv has confirmed they were in a relationship, and neither has directly addressed the speculation.
According to a Cinema Express report, Anupama said at the event, “It’s my social media account. I decide what to post. I was not venting out. I was just talking about a transition of a woman. And I feel proud that I did that.”
She also said people should not assume they know everything about her life based on what she shares online. Dismissing claims that the posts were directed at any particular person, she said, “What do you know about me? What do you know about my life? So, it’s okay. It is our Instagram, and we post whatever we like.”
Posts that drew attention
Oooops!!!!!! Sorry for the photo dump. Turns out, when you don’t have to wait for approvals, a song selection, or someone else’s caption, posting becomes a lot more fun (sic).” She followed it with, “Sometimes, you have to let go of the dead ends to finally find your peace.” She added, “And today, peace found me (sic).”
In another post, she wrote, “From today, I choose my voice. I choose my life. No more permissions. No more fear. Just me, finding my way back to myself and falling in love with the life I almost forgot was mine (sic).” She also said, “And there’s something I’ve wanted to say for a very long time. Something I wasn’t allowed to say for far too long. I love you all (sic).”
Thanking fans for their support, Anupama added, “If I haven’t said it enough before, please know that I have always felt it. Every message, every prayer, every ounce of kindness reached me when I needed it the most. Thank you, Universe, for leading me back to myself. Here’s to healing. Here’s to freedom. Here’s to choosing myself. And here’s to a life that is finally, completely, unapologetically my own (sic).”
On Instagram Stories, she shared a post defining accountability as “taking responsibility for your actions, decisions, and commitments. Owning up, following through, and being answerable”, and added, “For people who don’t know. Or constantly escape.”
How the rumours grew
gained momentum earlier in 2025 while they were working on Mari Selvaraj’s Bison Kaalamaadan. Fans claimed they had found a shared Spotify playlist. The speculation grew further after an unverified image of the two kissing circulated online, with fans claiming it was being used as the playlist’s display picture.
At a Chennai awards show earlier this year, Anupama appeared to blush when Dhruv wished her on her birthday from the stage, and she referred to him as her “2 AM call”. Later, when Dhruv shared a cosy selfie with Anupama from another awards event in Mumbai, she re-shared it with a heart emoji. The two have since largely stopped being seen together in public.
Anupama’s comments section soon filled with heart emojis and messages such as “more power to you”. On Reddit, one user wrote, “The caption is screaming breakup. The other reel she posted about healing sounded the same.” Another asked, “So, Dhruv and Anupama broke up?” An X user wrote, “Why does Anupama’s latest caption give major breakup, healing, and cut her hair to cut off the memories vibe?”
She will next be seen in Crazy Kalyanam, directed by Badrappa Gajula and also starring Naresh, Tarun Bhascker and Raju Weds Rambai actor Akhil Uddemari in key roles.
