Antim Sanskar: Death is the biggest and final truth of this world. There are 16 rituals described in Hindu religion. The last rites i.e. cremation are performed as the sixteenth rites. After this the soul goes on its next journey with a new identity. It is said that without following this sanskar, the soul’s bond and attachment to its old identity and relatives cannot be broken. Therefore, some traditions are followed even at the time of funeral.
One of these traditions is not to look back after cremating the dead body. After the cremation, while leaving the cremation ground, there is no looking back. Let us know what is the reason behind this?
the soul continues to exist
It is said that after cremation, the body gets burnt in the fire, but the soul continues to exist. It is said in Geeta that the soul can neither be cut by a weapon, nor can it burn in fire, nor can it get wet in water, nor can the wind dry up the soul. The soul sees with its own eyes all the rituals from death to the last rites of the deceased.
Don’t look back while leaving the crematorium
According to Garuda Purana, even after death the soul remains attached to its family members. Due to suffering from attachment, a person’s soul keeps wandering around his family members. Burning the dead body also means freeing the soul from attachment to the body. While leaving the crematorium, one does not look back so that the soul loses all hope that it has any connection with its family members.
After death all the rituals are performed for 13 days. During this time, the soul keeps watching how it is being given its last farewell. In such a situation, if one looks back after the cremation, the soul becomes more obsessed with attachment. Then it hurts to leave this world.
