Annakoot is definitely made on Govardhan, know its traditional recipe

Govardhan Puja is performed on Pratipada Tithi, the next day of Diwali. However, according to the calendar, sometimes there can be a difference in the date, due to which the day of the festival changes, like in 2025, Diwali was celebrated on 20th and Govardhan festival will be celebrated on 22nd October. This day is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Giriraj Govardhan Mountain. Apart from this, Mother Cow is worshiped on this day. This day is celebrated to express gratitude towards nature. Talking about its natural importance, this festival is organized in honor of Giriraj mountain as well as livestock and food grains, hence on the day of Govardhan, Annakoot is offered, in which many types of vegetables and grains are added.

Ingredients of Annakoot

For Annakoot on Govardhan Festival, you will need 2 potatoes, 2-3 small sized brinjals, 150 grams of cauliflower, 100 grams of beans, 100 grams of saggery, one carrot, one radish, 2 tindas, 2-3 arbi, 6-7 ladyfinger, 2-3 parwal, 1 capsicum, a small piece of bottle gourd, 1 raw banana, a small piece of pumpkin, 4-5 One bowl of tomatoes, green fenugreek, apart from this you can add different types of vegetables as per your wish. Apart from this, some grains like gram, kidney beans, millet should be added to it.

What spices will be needed?

To make Annakoot, you need 2-3 green chillies, 100 grams finely chopped coriander, turmeric powder 1.5 tsp, cumin one tsp, coriander powder 2 tsp, three-fourth tsp red chilli powder, dry mango powder (optional), half tsp garam masala, salt as per taste, asafoetida 2-3 pinch, oil 3-4 tbsp, 2 inch piece of ginger. If you are adding gram and rajma then boil it and soak the millet beforehand. Now let us see the recipe.

Make Annakoot like this

First of all, wash all the vegetables and clean them thoroughly. Separate the potatoes, brinjal and banana, cut all the vegetables into medium size and also finely chop the radish leaves. Cut green chillies and keep aside and grate ginger.

Take a large thick bottom pan and heat oil in it. Add seasoning of cumin and asafoetida to it. After this, add turmeric powder, coriander powder, green chilli, ginger and fry the spices on low flame. Add red chilli powder and salt to it, also add millet and fry. After this add all the chopped vegetables and also cut banana, potato, brinjal and mix it. Pre-cutting these vegetables and keeping them turns black. Now add green chillies and mix well by stirring with a ladle.

After mixing all the vegetables in spices, fry them while stirring for two to three minutes, then add 1 cup of water and cover. Check after some time if the vegetables have become soft, add boiled gram, kidney beans and cook covered for 5 minutes. After this add chopped tomatoes, garam masala, dry mango powder and green coriander. In this way your tasty and nutrient rich Annakoot Prasad will be ready.
