Anil Ambani
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is searching for 6 complexes in Indore and Mumbai in the Reliance Infra case of Anil Ambani’s company Reliance Infra under FEMA. Earlier in August last month, Reliance Group chief Anil Ambani was questioned by the ED for 10 hours in a money laundering case related to alleged bank loan fraud against his group companies.
Anil Ambani reached the office of the Central Investigation Agency in Delhi at 11 am to join the inquiry and came out at around 9 pm. The ED recorded the statement of Ambani (66) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Then the investigating agency asked Ambani about a dozen questions.
However, during interrogation, Anil Ambani denied any disturbance and said that his companies disclosed their financial situation in front of the regulators on time. He also told the investigating officers that all the financial decisions related to the company were taken by the senior officials of the companies.
In a case associated with this, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Partha Sarathi Biswal, managing director of a company in Odisha, for giving a fake bank guarantee of Rs 68 crore for a company of Anil Ambani Group. This action was taken by the agency for the alleged financial irregularities and manipulation of group loans of more than Rs 17 thousand crore by several companies of Anil Ambani, including Reliance Infrastructure (R Infra).
