Andre Russell’s IPL career lasted 14 years

Andre Russell entered the IPL for the first time in the year 2012. For the first time, he got a chance to debut for Delhi Daredevils. After this, in the year 2014, he joined Kolkata Knight Riders. He played a total of 140 matches during his IPL career. In this, 2651 runs were scored in 115 innings. He has an average of 28.20 and strike rate of 174.17. Apart from this, he also performed amazingly with the ball. In bowling, Russell took 123 wickets in 121 innings. Last season in 2025 IPL, he scored 167 runs in 10 innings and took 8 wickets.

I am retiring from IPL, but not the swagger. The journey of IPL was wonderful. Memories of 12 seasons and lots of love from the Kolkata Knight Riders family. I will still be hitting sixes and taking wickets in other leagues around the world. And the best part? I am not leaving home… You will see me in a new role as the Power Coach of KKR’s support staff in 2026. New chapter, same energy and a knight forever.

Won the Most Valuable Player award twice

During his IPL career, Andre Russell made Kolkata Knight Riders champion twice. When the team won the title in 2014 and 2024, Russell’s role was also very important during that period. He was also the Most Valuable Player in the 2015 and 2019 IPL seasons. However, his performance in the last two seasons was not anything special, due to which he had to be released. Now he will be seen in a new role.
