Andhra Pradesh to ban social media access for children under 13

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Friday announced that the state government will ban social media access to children under the age of 13.

Speaking at the AP Legislative Assembly, the CM said that they will implement the ban within 90 days.

“There has been a suggestion that it would be good to ban social media for those under the age of 13. We will launch a program to make social media inaccessible to those under that age within 90 days. We will discuss with everyone what to do for those between the ages of 13-16 and take a decision. Our children should not be harmed by social media. This government is committed to that,” the CM clarified.

He said that technology can be used as a weapon if used, and lives can be ruined if it becomes an addiction.
