A 32-year-old man was crushed to death when a container rack from a moving lorry slipped and fell on his car at Eruvaram in Chittoor city of Andhra Pradesh on Friday.

On Friday, a large container rack from a moving lorry fell on a car at Eruvaram in Chittoor city of Andhra Pradesh, killing a 32-year-old software engineer on the spot. D. Anudeepak, a resident of Ramapuram village in Gudipala mandal of Chittoor district, was traveling in his car when his attempt to avoid a possible collision with a lorry driver led to his death.

In the process, the vehicle ran over the road divider, causing the container rack to slide and overturn on the car coming from the other direction. The heavy container rack crushed the vehicle, resulting in the death of Anudeepak.

“Though there were no major external injuries on the victim’s body, damage to internal organs including injuries to lungs and heart resulted in the instant death of Anudeepak, who worked as a software engineer in a Bengaluru-based IT firm,” Nitya Babu told TOI.

The police immediately dismissed the rumors circulating on social media which claimed that six people had died in the accident. Officials clarified that only one person has lost his life in the accident.

Anudeepak’s body has been sent to the government hospital in Chittoor for postmortem. The driver of the container lorry has been taken into custody and the vehicle has been seized and taken to the traffic police station. Meanwhile, the biker involved in the accident suffered minor injuries and has been admitted to the Chittoor government hospital for treatment.

A case has been registered against both the lorry driver and the biker and a detailed investigation is underway.
