Anant chaturdashi 2025: The festival of Anant Chaturdashi is celebrated on the Chaturdashi of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha. On this day, along with Ganapati immersion, special worship of Lord Vishnu is done. It is believed that worshiping and fasting Lord Vishnu on this day brings happiness and prosperity in life and ends all sorrows. According to the Panchang, the festival of Anant Chaturdashi will be celebrated on 6 September this year.
Anant Chaturdashi’s most special ritual is Anant Sutra i.e. 14 holy thread. It is tied in the hand and this thread is considered a symbol of auspiciousness, prosperity and protection in life. But what are the reasons that are worn on the day of Anant Chaturdashi with 14 knots?
14 knots, whose symbols are?
The 14 knots (also known as ‘Anant Sutra’ in this thread tied on Anant Chaturdashi are considered a symbol of many important things. However, according to the most common and major beliefs, these 14 knots represent 14 names of Lord Vishnu. These names reflect their various forms and power. Apart from this, according to some beliefs, these lumps are also related to 14 worlds (Bhuvan), which have been considered as different levels of the universe in Hinduism. These 14 folk are:

- Sulfur
- Talatal
- Mahatal
- Abyss
- Cadre
- Ghoom
- Bhuvarlok
- Swarlok
- Maharlok

- Satyaloka
It is also believed that these 14 knots symbolize Lord Rama returning from exile after ruling for 14 years. This formula is also worn in life to wish for infinite happiness, prosperity and security.
How is worship done?
On the day of Anant Chaturdashi, after bathing in the morning, Lord Vishnu is worshiped in infinite form. First the urn is installed at a checkpoint. After this, by placing an idol or picture of Lord Vishnu, a thread with 14 lumps is placed in front of him. This thread is made from raw cotton or silk, in which turmeric and kumkum are applied. During worship, the mantra ‘Om Anantaya Namah’ is chanting. After worship, the head of the house or family members tie this thread on their wrist, and this thread is tied throughout the year. This thread is considered a symbol of infinite grace and security of Lord Vishnu.
