On the night of May 20, 2025, a little girl wearing a light pink frock went missing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. His parents, residents of Solapur, had come to Mumbai for treatment. They were tired. The mother closed her eyes just for a moment and when she opened her eyes, her daughter was not there. After this incident, the girl’s father could not sleep for six months. The eyes of both parents were tired. Even in the dark he would whisper just one name, “Aarohi…Aarohi…”
But on the other hand, thousands of kilometers away in Varanasi, the girl started calling herself “Kashi” because she could not remember her real name. In June, she was found barefoot and crying in fear near the railway track. An orphanage gave him food, a bed, and a new name. She smiled like other children, but sometimes at night she would hold the corner of her blanket and say “Come.” In Marathi ‘Ai’ means mother. No one else there understood this.
In such a situation, on November 13, a local reporter from Varanasi saw a poster. He had also seen that a girl was speaking Marathi words in her sleep. He immediately called the police. The next morning, a Mumbai Police inspector made a video call on his laptop in Varanasi. A little girl wearing a pink frock appeared on the screen. It was the same clothes that the girl was wearing on the day of her disappearance. The mother standing behind the officer in Mumbai silently fainted after seeing her daughter.
