New Delhi: After the deadlock over the T20 World Cup clash between India and Pakistan got finally over post weeks of uncertainty, both the teams have received a proposal to engage in first Test series in almost two decades. The Pakistan government, after remaining adamant over not playing India in the marquee event, made a u-turn as their government gave them the permission for the February 15 clash against the traditional rivals.
Now former English skipper Michael Vaughan has made a proposal for the both the sides to engage in Test cricket on the English soil, a potential clash which the entire world would want to see, mentions a report in the Hindustan Times. He believes that UK could act as the perfect host for the series as he made his suggestion just few hours after the stand-off ended.
In a social media post on X, Vaughan said that it will be great for the competition and cricket if both the countries could engage in a Test series. ‘It’s great for the competition and cricket. We need them to somehow play a Test series soon as well. The UK would be a great place to host a 3-match series.’

When did IND-PAK last play a Test series?
Due to political disturbances between the two nations, India and Pakistan have not played a Test series in the last 19 years. The last series between the two teams took place way back in 2007 when Pakistan toured India for an ODI and Test series.
Interestingly, Pakistan lost the ODIs 2-3 and the Test series 0-1. 2007 was the fourth year in a row that both the teams played bilaterals with 2012-2013 became the last year when they met in bilaterals. Before that, India had visited Pakistan in 2004, for the first time since 1989, for a full-fledged tour and won both the 50-over games as well as the Test series. India toured Pakistan in 2006 again but lost the Test series 0-1.
While the proposal made by the ex-England player seems to be great but the chances of the two nations meeting in bilateral cricket looks grim because of the political disturbances between both the countries.
