American Idol alumna Inessa Lee turned to social action after dealing with frustrating cyber-harassment. Inessa used music as a tool to resist bullying. Her song “Love Gun” inspired the social media initiative known as “Love Gun for Peace.” This campaign, launched by the acclaimed charity IFERS (Institute for Education, Research & Scholarships), garnered participation from numerous influencers who showcased themselves dancing to the song while promoting peace slogans. https://music.ifers.org/
The song “Love Gun” achieved a remarkable No. 5 ranking on the UK Music Week Commercial Pop Club Chart and made it into Japan’s Spotify Top 10, gaining over 2.5 million streams globally. All the proceeds from the song are donated to educational charities, particularly New Mercy Care Schools in Nairobi, Kenya.
Now Inessa is planning to launch a direct line for the victims of cyber-harassment on IFERS online platform. “There’s too much hate on social media lately, especially among teenagers. I went through this myself, so I know how to help others to cope with frustration,” – said the influencer.
Reportedly, Inessa Lee was cyber-bullied by a former Broadway actress Jasmine Amy Rogers, who targeted her on social media following the conclusion of the ‘Boop! The Musical’. Reports indicate that Rogers became frustrated after losing her job and directed her displaced anger at Inessa who gained significant following on TikTok due to her popular Betty Boop impressions. It seems that Betty Boop’s character triggered the whole conflict between 2 women, and motivated Inessa to launch the “Love Gun for Peace” project.
“I was about to file a court case, but our peace flash mob helped me to cope with frustration at that point, so I decided to let God handle this situation,” – admitted the singer.
