Us Senator Lindsey Graham Warns Heavy Tariffs Russian Oil Buyers India
In today’s world, oil has become a very diplomatic weapon, not just a means of driving. The Russian-Ukraine war has shook global equations and now the US has given strict warnings to countries like India, China and Brazil. If this country continues to buy cheap oil from Russia, then their economy may have to suffer heavy losses.
If you buy oil from Russia, you will destroy
American senator Lindsay Graham recently spoke openly on Fox News. He targeted India, China and Brazil and said, if you keep buying cheap oil from Russia and giving more air to Ukraine War, then we will destroy your economy. Graham says that these three countries are buying about 80% of oil from Russia, due to which the battle machinery of Russian President Vladimir Putin is getting money.
He called it “blood money” i.e. even money stained with blood. Graham believes that by purchasing oil from Russia, these countries are not only seeing their benefits, but are wrongly supporting Putin.

500% tariff plan also ready
Senator Lindsay Graham and Richard Bluemethal together introduced a bill in the US Parliament, which talks about strictness on the countries buying oil and gas from Russia. In this bill, up to 500% tariffs have been said. That is, if India, China or Brazil continue to buy oil from Russia, then their goods may be so huge tax that their economy will get a big shock.
Graham said, we want Putin to understand that the game has changed now. He claims that this bill will teach a lesson not only to Russia, but also its business partners. The bill has got the support of 85 MPs in the US Parliament, which makes it stronger.
Trump told Putin ‘strong player’
US President Donald Trump is also not behind in this matter. In a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rut, he clearly said, “If Putin did not signed a peace agreement with Ukraine in the next 50 days, 100% tariffs (import taxes) will be imposed on countries buying oil from Russia.”
Describing Putin as a “strong player”, Trump also said that Putin dodged leaders like Clinton, Bush, Obama and Biden but he could not fool Trump. Their purpose is to make Russia financially weakened and bring it to the table of peace talks. Trump says that this tariff is not just punishment, but is a way to force Russia.
India has already answered
India has given its clarification on this warning. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that India is buying oil from Russia keeping in mind its energy needs and economic stability. He said that the Indian Embassy and Ambassador have held talks with Senator Graham on this issue. Jaishankar says, we have put our concerns and interests in front of him. If needed, we will consider this issue further. India’s attitude is clear that it will give priority to its energy security, but at the same time wants to maintain balance in global diplomacy.
